Macrame Easter Egg Decoration

February 26, 2026
Macrame Easter Egg Decoration
It is finally time for Easter crafts - yay!!

To start off the season we created this macrame easter egg decoration. A very simple craft, perfect for all ages and abilities.

Very easy to personalise - you can change whatever you put into your egg (check, bunny, mini egg, etc).

Take a look at what pattern and supplies we used below:

To make our decoration we used this video here.

Now, we were using things we had laying around, and we do not keep wired and little beads, so we improved our bunny - we just used ribbon for its ears! Thread it through the wholes of the larger wooden beads used for the body.

We also chose more colour - pinks and purples. We thought the monochrome was not "spring" enough, so added a dash of personality.

Our cord was also a lot thinner than the one used in the video, so we do not think it is as sturdy, but the pink looks cute!

We also used regular fabric glue, and we should have used a glue gun for a cleaner look, but it did ok in a pinch.

What you will need:

  • GLUE
Choose from regular glue or glue gun.
  • RIBBON
You only need a small amount for a bow and ears, so you could use scraps. Or buy a premade bow if you prefer.
  • CROCHET HOOKS
To thread in ends - we used the 3.5mm one from this set, as it needed to be small enough to get through the cord, but big enough to pick up the end.
