How To Make A Drink Cosy

There is nothing better than a ice cold drink at a BBQ in the sunshine.

And what better way to keep it cool than an insulated drink cosy.

A lot easier to make than we originally thought!

Take a look at how we made this below:

What you will need:

• TEMPLATES
  Front - 28cm x 10cm. Back - 28cm x 12cm. Edges - 28cm x 2.5cm.

• COTTON
  For the outer (front and back) layer - we chose Penguins on Blue Cotton Fabric. For the edges we chose just Black Plain Cotton Fabric.

• ZORB ORIGINAL
  For the inner layer.

• VELCRO
  About 8cm in length.

• CUTTING BOARD
  For a flat surface you can cut on.

• SCISSORS
  To cut fabric.

• FABRIC MARKER
  To around edges of project.

• PINS
  To pin fabric to prevent it moving.

• THREAD
  You might want to choose a neutral white, or match the thread to your fabric.

• TAPE MEASURE
  To measure fabric and template.

• SEWING MACHINE

• IRON

Step 1: Draw around template and cut fabric

1 x front piece and 1 x back piece in outer layer cotton. 2 x edges in second cotton choice. 1 x Zorb in the larger back size.

Step 2: Layer front piece and two edges 

On of the edges on each long side. Front sides facing. Pin.

Step 3: Sew along edges

Along the long edges only. Using sewing machine.

Step 4: Fold the bottom edge of the edge pieces up, creating a crease

Iron flat.

Step 5: Layer all fabric

Zorb -> back piece of cotton right side up -> front piece with edges right side down. Pin.

Step 6: Sew around entire edge

Leaving a turning hole.

Step 7: Snip off corners

Make sure you do not cut stitches.

Step 8: Turn inside out

Use a tool to help get out edges. 

Step 9: Iron flat

Tuck in any fabric at turning hole.

Step 10: Sew turning gap closed

Using sewing machine

Step 11: Cut and attach Velcro

About 8cm in length. Pin on to the short edge of the outside and one to the other short edge on the inside.

Step 12: Sew around Velcro

Around all four edges

COMPLETED!

Things to note: 

• Washing machine safe.
• Can be made smaller or larger.
